DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW


Electronics and Communication (EC) engineering broadly deals with systems related to acquiring, communicating, manipulating and analyzing information. To put it in simple words EC covers wide area of applications from small sensor to huge satellites, simple calculators to super computers, microwave ovens to missiles, mobile phones to medical electronics, automation in industries to electronics in automobiles etc. EC has achieved fastest technology growth ever among all domains of engineering and has registered its spread in almost all areas of application. Presence of EC has become ubiquitous and has undoubtedly become one of the basic branches in Engineering. Because of the nature of curriculum that EC Engineers study, they have plenty of career opportunities not only in the core area of Electronics and Communication but also in allied areas like Instrumentation, Computer Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering., Mechatronics, Bio-medical etc. The Faculty members are Highly Experienced and dedicated in mouldings the students to cope with competitive career, higher studies and research activities Faculty members have published many international journal papers, attended many workshops and FDP. One Professors and One Asscociate Prof. with Doctoral Degree. One Associate professors pursuing doctoral degree, Six Assistant Professors pursuing doctoral degree. Ten Assistant professors with PG Degree. The department has excellent infrastructure with state-of-the-art equipment's and software tools. 8 dedicated technical staff for laboratory experiment conduction.7 laboratories including research and industrial Project lab. The department has a close interaction with the alumni and is continuously using their inputs for betterment of the curriculum and research facilities to meet the industrial needs. Keeping an eye on the need of the industry and the society, department of Electronics and communication Engineering has been conducting numerous core technical workshops for both students and faculty members to meet the vision and mission of the department and eventually of the college. The department is committed to work toward quality education through innovative teaching and learning processes, state-of-the-art facilities and conducive academic ambiance. ACADEMICS

The department of Electronics and Communication Engineering established in the year 2001 and is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU),Belgavi, Karnataka. Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the undergraduate course, Accredited by National Board of Accreditation for the period of two years from July 2015-July 2017. The department wants to impart quality education to the students catering to the needs of the industries.


The department has well-qualified and experienced faculty with a healthy student to staff ratio of 18:1. Out of which two are Doctorates, four are pursuing Ph.D and remaining are Post-Graduates. Faculty members are dedicated and committed to their profession and strive hard to bring out the best from the students. Many international/national journal papers are published by the faculty. They present their research papers in international/national conferences. They are encouraged to participate in FDP and technical workshops to upgrade their knowledge.


The department provides ample opportunities to students to work on mini-projects, develop communication skills, explore internship opportunities in industry and take part in national & international design contests like IICDC, DrishTI from TI University Program. The students are trained to take part in continuous learning courses such as Spoken Tutorial and NPTEL. The vibrant IEEE professional society organizes events such as to bring out the hidden talents from the students. In addition, the department association conducts various activities to help the students to excel in co-curricular and extracurricular activities. The teacher guardian scheme is very well established in the department where in teacher guardian guideshis/her wards to perform well in academics as well as to take part in those activities necessary for the overall development of the students.


The department follows Outcome Based Education system in which technical activities are conducted to make the students industry ready.The students are encouraged to do mini projects during their course. Emphasis is given on product development and research activities. In this regard external agencies such as Fiabilite, Slekin technologies help our students. Priorities are given for paper presentations in conferences/technical fests. The department wants the students to take part in the technical contests or in the events such as KCST, ANVESHANA etc.


Electronics and Communication Engineering lays greater emphasis on deep understanding of fundamental principles and state of the art knowledge about Electronic Devices and Circuits, Computer Architecture and Microprocessors, VLSI and Embedded systems, Electromagnetic Field Theory, Analog and Digital Communication, Digital Signal Processing, Microwave and wired/wireless Communication systems. The emphasis is given in improving coding skills in the students so that they get placements in IT industry also. We have very good placement record over the past 5 years.


Overall, the department helps the student to grow and establish himself in this competitive world.
